Background of the Wildfires
The fires began on January 7, 2025, in Pacific Palisades, a prominent and upscale community near Los Angeles. By Wednesday, January 8, multiple new fires had emerged, each growing at alarming rates. The Eaton Fire quickly spread across Pasadena and Altadena, covering 10,000 acres by late Wednesday. Another, called the Woodley Fire, spread across 75 acres early Wednesday morning, and the Hurst Fire, ignited northward of the area, soon consumed 500 acres. A fifth blaze, the Tyler Fire, broke out near Coachella. As firefighters struggled to control these infernos, more fires emerged, with the Kenneth Fire being investigated as a possible case of arson. As the catastrophe unfolded, the flames consumed thousands of structures, including homes, and led to the postponement of several entertainment events and filming sessions.
