Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, in partnership with the political advocacy group MoveOn, have created a new ice cream flavor called Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee, inspired by a viral quote from Kamala Harris. The flavor, featuring coconut ice cream, caramel swirls, and red, white, and blue star-shaped sprinkles, was inspired by Harris’s remark, “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” during a speech in May 2023. This speech was focused on advancing opportunities for Hispanic communities, and the quote quickly gained popularity on social media, becoming a TikTok trend.

Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee is being distributed through the “Scoop the Vote” ice cream truck, which will travel to 20 battleground states to encourage voter participation in the upcoming election. Free cups and cones of the ice cream will be handed out at each stop, and attendees can enter a raffle to win a limited-edition, autographed pint of the flavor. The pints feature Harris’s photo with a tropical design of palm trees and stars, under a label resembling Ben & Jerry’s branding but titled “Ben’s Best.”

The goal of the campaign is to engage voters, particularly those who may not be politically active. MoveOn’s executive director, Rahna Epting, emphasized the importance of connecting with voters through non-political activities like this ice cream event to encourage voter turnout for the election by November 5. The ice cream, however, will not be sold in stores and is available only at the “Scoop the Vote” truck stops.
